BMW 5 Series 530d hybrid turbos

A 530d hybrid turbo keeps the original single variable-geometry housing but flows considerably more air than the standard unit. To use it safely the engine needs a remap, and at higher power targets larger injectors and a bigger intercooler. Each hybrid page lists the power range and the supporting upgrades.

A hybrid turbo keeps the original housing but gets upgraded internals - typically a larger or billet compressor wheel and a high-flow turbine - so it flows more air than standard. Hybrids on the shelf go out next day; others are built to order in our workshop in 2-3 weeks. A hybrid turbo is a performance part, not a turbo for a hybrid car.
