The 530d has used the same layout for over twenty years - a 3.0 straight-six diesel (M57 in the E39 and E60, N57 in the F10, B57 in the G30) with a single variable-geometry turbo on most versions; some of the most powerful later versions use a two-stage twin-turbo system, marked on the cards below. Typical signs of a failing turbo are blue or black smoke, a whistle or siren under boost, oil in the intercooler pipes and limp mode with an underboost fault. Power outputs and years for each turbo are listed on its page.
We list 11 turbochargers for the BMW 5 Series 530d (E39, E60, F10, F07, E61, F11 and G31), diesel, 184-286 hp, built 1998-2026. 5 of them are on the shelf now. Prices from £265 inc. VAT. Different power outputs and model years use different turbochargers - the list below shows which version each one fits.
Reconditioned turbos are stripped, cleaned, rebuilt with new bearings and seals, balanced and tested in our own workshop, with 12 months warranty. Turbos on the shelf go out next day; others are reconditioned to order in 2-3 working days.
Not sure which one fits? Enter your registration in the vehicle bar or send us the number stamped on the old part - we check it before anything is sent.
